Abbe Refractometers

ATAGO's Abbe Refractometers are highly reliable instruments which measure Refractive Index. Compared with other types of refractometers, the Abbe refractometers are capable of measuring liquid and solid samples such as plate glasses, plastic sheets, and other solid films.

By very simple operation that needs only to set the boundary line of refraction at the cross hairs, this refractometer directly indicates a measured value (in refractive index or Brix (%), selective) in digits together with temperature on the display. This refractometer enables anybody to carry out measurement easily without reading of analog graduation. The DR-A1 Digital Abbe Refractometer can now be connected to a printer and computer. Individual measurements and their average values as well as temperature readings can be printed to a DP-63 (C) Digital Printer (sold separately) or transmitted to a computer.* Dispersive value cannot be measured by this refractometer.

This model features a brighter field of view than its predecessor, the DR-A1, making it easier to measure inhomogeneous and/or dark samples. The operations and specifications are the same as the DR-A1. Please contact ATAGO for recommendations on which of the 2 models is better-suited for your sample type.

This is the Abbe Rerfactometer for liquid sample measurement only. It has the Refractive Index Scale and the BRIX scale, and it comes with D line (589nm) light source. Calibration can be done with distilled water.

NEW Abbe Refractometer for solid sample measurement (it can also be used to measure liquid samples), the NAR-1T SOLID was launched. It has the Refractive Index Scale and the BRIX scale, and it comes with D line (589nm) light source.

Designed for use with compounds which require measurement at high temperature.

The NAR-3T has been developed to give improved measuring accuracy and ease of use. This has been achieved by making fundamental improvements to the optical system, utilizing a larger scale, incorporating a high intensity lamp and using a double control knob to give quick and finer control.

R&D on new materials for modern technologies is being actively conducted in every industry. Many of these materials (especially polymer film and related materials) are of high refractive index-often too high for the existing Abbe refractometers. But these are now covered with the nD1.4700 to 1.8700 range of the NAR-4T.

Abbe Refractometers for low refractive index and high refractive index measurements In addition to our standard Abbe Refractometer NAR-1T, 2T, 3T, 4T and DR-A1, we can supply the following Abbe models. We shall ask you to use them if the specifications of our standard Abbe Refractometers do not meet your requirements. Another Optional * We can supply Abbe Refractometer with measurement range of "nD 1.7000 to 2.0800" and with Measurement Temperature Range of "0 to 50˚C" or "0 to 120˚C". Note : You are requested to convert measured refractive indices to "real refractive indices" (with referring to conversion tables), since the above Abbe Refractometers have the same scales as our standard Abbe Refractometer NAR-1T and 2T.
